Au pairs are entitled to four weeks’ holiday per year; 1.5 days per month, and all bank holidays. Should the au pair work on a holiday, extra money should be given, or a day off in lieu. If you decide to go on holiday and are not taking the au pair with you, she must be paid during your absence. Should there be a good reason to ask your au pair to leave, two weeks’ notice should be given. If there has been a misdemeanour and it is not acceptable for the au pair to continue to stay in your house, the agency will advise how best to handle the situation.
